Been struggling with some major self doubt lately. So I took an extended Memorial Day vacation and am taking this time to focus on family and writing. Starting with a writing sesh in my favorite coffeehouse, @pourhousecafe 😍 Nothing gets the words flowing quite like a latte! Happy Saturday, y'all!

1/3 done with Secret Project. 😍 making this Friday victory screech my submission for the @goscribbler #scribblersquadsearch - 'cause, guys. There's so many reasons to support this service. If you haven't signed up yet, YOU SHOULD 😍😍 One of the best writing investments you'll make! πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ And now, off to see if I can start another chapter before work... πŸ˜‚

There’s nothing like a pull-up banner to make you realise that this book is really on its way! @lizmacwhirter was thrilled to have it unveiled by @scotstreetpress - Black Snow Falling is already available for pre-order at Waterstones and Foyles. Fab cover courtesy of Tim Byrne. #notlongnow #writersofinstagram #yawritersofinstagram #debut publishing 1st August

Pitch Wars 2018 is a major event that happens on Twitter every year that basically matches writers to agents, and ultimately publishers. Participants have tons of homework to do before the big event, but it’s a fun way to get your work out there. Anybody heard of Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi? You didn’t before Pitch Wars. πŸ˜‰ Google it and get in on the fun! πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸ’» Self-published author @tangledpress is already selling hella children’s books on Amazon. She’s one half of @WriteSoHard. The other half of us is me, @iamraquelenes, although I’m sure my handle will change because I’m planning to use a pen name, but we’ll leave that for another post. πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸ’» Anyway, I’m writing a YA novel and, unlike my writing buddy, am seeking the traditional publishing route for my first novel. I’m terrified to talk about my book because I’m a shy hermit and am sensitive about my shit, but I’m really excited about my story! πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸ’» Pitch Wars happens in August. Everything goes down on Twitter. Please follow me on Twitter (@iamraquelenes over there too) because that’s where I’ll be sharing my book details and getting into Pitch Wars shenanigans. πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸ’» If you are participating in #PitchWars2018, leave your Twitter handle in the comments!!! #igwritersmay D24 - Beta readers. Y'all. I love my top beta to PIECES. She strikes that perfect balance of encouraging me when I strike gold and kicking my butt when something is terrible nonsense πŸ˜‚ I spent my whole writing life looking for a beta partner like this. 😍

#igwritersmay D23 - Proud moment. This note from my brother, who is my alpha reader, made me so proud of a certain Book 3 scene. 😍😍 His reactions are a great metric for me on the emotional fulfillment of a scene, and judging by those big teary eyes, I did all right πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ what's one of your proudest moments as a writer?

This weekend was crazy and this week so far has been a trip. My mind is divided between two projects, with the theme of both starting to sound a lot like this. πŸ˜‚ a message I'm clearly excited to dive into! Hope everyone's week is off to a great, inspired start!

New experience this week: receiving my first ever rejection letter. This week's blog - five things it taught me 😍 Check it out in my bio!! ✌✌ And here! ---> http://reneeduganwriting.com/2018/05/20/4-things-to-do-and-1-thing-not-to-when-rejection-comes/

Do you ever find a place in real life that looks like a scene from your story? Found this place on a walk today and almost teared up...I could picture two of my characters walking the same shore in Book 1 😍 SO much fun!!!

#igwritersmay D19 - Novel Aesthetic. Honestly, I could do a mini aesthetic board for each STARCHASER character. Anyone think I should? πŸ˜‚ In the meantime, here's the aesthetical snapshot of some important things in Book 1! 😍

Exploring the province with my Nana and Mum. Beauty of a day. Stopped at a cute restaurant for fish and chips and listened to the waves crashing against the rocks. On the way home we stopped by at a nursery and picked up some plants. I picked up patio tomatoes, mesclun lettuce, lavender, and a hot pink flower ( I can't remember the name:) Yay for flowers and family visits. #stmartins #saintjohnnb #explorecanada #newbrunswick #beauty #explorenb #writerofig #writingcommunity #plants #tomatoesπŸ… #lavender #flowerbox #yawriter #yawritersofinstagram #ocean #fishandchips #lighthouse

#igwritersmay D17 - Inspiration. I find getting out of the house and writing at a coffee house if any kind is a huge inspiration boost. 😍 What's your favorite place to go write on the town?
