I’ve been honing in my diet over the last few years and helping others do the same. For me, adopting a pescatarian diet has been a stepping stone toward veganism and I get asked all the time how I get enough protein without meat. Easily! - First off, the industry would have you believe you need 1-2 grams of protein/lb of bodyweight. Some bodybuilders intake even more! But this just isn’t the case, especially for an “average” healthy adult. - I recommend anywhere from .36-.8 grams/lb of LEAN body mass or about 15-30% of your overall caloric intake (more if lactating). Of course this varies a lot person to person. - When going meatless, you want to consume a variety of foods to get all 9 essential amino acids in. My top plant-based proteins are tofu, chia, hemp, nooch, goji berries, raw cacao, quinoa, buckwheat, soy, ezekiel bread, and spirulina. Most of these are complete or just low in an essential amino.
