Such a great day at the Hillingdon Secondary Book of the Year final. Tamsin Winter a thoroughly deserving winner. My year 7s were fantastic and have had such a positive experience reading books they probably would never have done otherwise #hillingdonbookoftheyear #proudteacher #teachersofig #teachersofinstagram #mayor #tamsinwinter #hayleylong #englishteacher #geraldinemccaughrean #maryhoffman #novelists #writers #authorevent #bookstagram #instabook #igreaders #yafiction #bookworm #popsugarreadingchallenge #hillingdonlibraries #libraries #savelibraries @tamsinwinterbooks @hayleylongevity

Rather than post each photo by itself (way annoying; no thanks), here's a photolist of my #popsugarreadingchallenge reads thus far, from most to least recent. ✌

Finished this one yesterday. It's the second in the series, and I love the concept and the story. Its only flaw is a serious lack of diversity (the protagonist and his partner are white men) and a professed love for law enforcement on the last page that ignores the very real and pressing problem of how racism manifests specifically in law enforcement. However, it's still a compelling page-turner that I finished in 4 days. #reading #readingchallenge #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #popsugarreadingchallenge #aroundtheyearin52books

I finished this book last week--it's definitely a page-turner. Also definitely a recommended read. #reading #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #popsugarreadingchallenge #aroundtheyearin52books #readingchallenge #suspense

Babies in bed✅ Chores done✅ A little over halfway through "Horns" and I am super digging it. This is only my second #joehill book, but I knew after "Heart Shaped Box" that he wouldn't disappoint. Honestly, I'm disappointed in myself that it took so long for me to start a horror novel for my reading challenge.

🌷You might notice a theme running through my pictures lately. I’m taking advantage of all the lovely Mother’s Day flowers I received. 😍 I was really excited to read FURYBORN. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. I do give it 3.5 enthusiastic stars! ⭐️ I loved the characters and it’s so well-written, but I found myself setting it down for days. I’m not really sure why. You can check out my rambling review on Goodreads if you’re curious. • Here’s the synopsis: When assassins ambush her best friend, the crown prince, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing her ability to perform all seven kinds of elemental magic. The only people who should possess this extraordinary power are a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light and salvation and a queen of blood and destruction. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven trials to test her magic. If she fails, she will be executed...unless the trials kill her first. A thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a mere fairy tale to bounty hunter Eliana Ferracora. When the Undying Empire conquered her kingdom, she embraced violence to keep her family alive. Now, she believes herself untouchable--until her mother vanishes without a trace, along with countless other women in their city. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain on a dangerous mission and discovers that the evil at the heart of the empire is more terrible than she ever imagined. As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world--and of each other. 📚 • #furyborn #clairelegrand #sourcebooksfire @sourcebooksfire #currentlyreading #popsugarreadingchallenge #yafantasy #bookbirthday

#popsugarreadingchallenge2018 progress thus far. Since I decided to move my #bookstagram moments to a separate thing, may as well start with The List. . Working full time with two two-year-olds has definitely made reading more of a challenge, but here's to finishing 50 this year! Between this challenge and the #dollypartonimaginationlibrary hopefully I will nourish my booklove and instill that love in at least one of my kids. Fingers crossed, anyway. They've only destroyed two of their books so far so that's a good sign, right?

"A book involving a heist" for the #popsugarreadingchallenge2018 While the first book in this series is better suited to this category, it is Locke, so there's bound to be a heist somewhere. • #popsugarreadingchallenge #abookinvolvingaheist #books #bibliophile #📚 #booknerd #reading #fantasy #fiction #scottlynch #lockelamora #thegentlemanbastardsequence #therepublicofthieves

Doing my best to check off at least a few unread #bookofthemonth picks to end this month. This one checks off the #popsugarreadingchallenge “A book tied to my ancestry.” I’m starting The Woman in the Window next, “a book with alliteration in the title.” After that, I have to fit in Uncommon Type (?!?!), The Mars Room, An American War, Other People’s Houses, and As Bright as Heaven. I doubt I’ll read these all this month but hopefully I can check off A Woman... and 1-2 more. I’m at 69/120 books for the year and I’d be thrilled to hit 80 by June 24th (Start of week 26 of 2018). Think I can do it?

My weekend reads couldn’t have been more different from each other. Delightful nonetheless.

This is my last book for @olly_reads #birthyearreadalong 📚 This was a good dose of nostalgia and one I’ve been wanting to revisit for a long time. Along with books like Watership Down, The Animals Of Farthing Wood and Mrs. Frisby And The Rats Of Nimh, it was a staple part of my teenage reading. • Redwall Abbey, home and sanctuary to all good and peaceful creatures of Mossflower Woods, is held at siege by the notorious and dreaded Cluny the Scourge and his battle-hardened horde. The woodland friends all band together to defend their home but it is up to Matthias, a young apprentice monk, to find a legendary weapon belonging to a past hero of Redwall and fulfil his destiny as a warrior and hero. • This is a heartwarming, simple tale and is just as good escapism for an adult as it is a teenager. Although surprisingly there were a lot more deaths than I remember ☠️😂 • The Redwall series seemed to go on for forever but this one always was my favourite - from a tough grumpy badger to quarrelsome battle shrews and sparrows, there’s charismatic life given to all kinds of animals. The story ends on an almost sickeningly sweet note but books like this are bound to, I think it’s one reason why they stay favourites for so long 😊 • Book 47, Redwall by Brian Jacques 🐭🗡🐍 • Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • • • #8intwo #popsugarreadingchallenge #goodreads #2018readingchallenge #redwall #brianjacques #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #igreads #reading #currentlyreading #bookcollection #bookworm #booklover #booknerd #bookphotography #bookpics #booksofinstagram #bookscommunity #instabooks #literature #fiction
